The School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts anticipates hiring full and part time lecturer positions to teach the following courses in Sociology for AY 2023-24. Course(s) being offered may include but not limited to:

Social Inequality
Law & Society
Topics in Immigration
Gender & Society
Sociology of the Family
Sociology of Education

In addition to teaching the course(s), the instructor is responsible for creating a syllabus, holding weekly office hours (2 hours/week), and grading examinations and/or papers. The instructor may also be required to hold discussion sections or supervise a graduate student teaching assistant.

This is a limited-term appointment which falls under the purview of the agreement for the Lecturers Unit between University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy and appropriate collective bargaining agreement.

Full time and part time positions available. Three courses in Fall and three courses in Spring are equivalent to full time position. Part time varies based on need and availability.

Spring Semester: 1/1/2024 – 5/31/2024

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications

Advanced degree in related field and experience teaching at the college or university level is required. Must be able to provide a record of excellence in teaching.
