Lead Swim Instructor & Lifeguard

Onsite at MIT: Full-Time role with benefits, PTO, holidays, & assists with camp operations

MIT Recreation, managed by HealthFitness, is looking for a 40 hour per week Lead Swim Instructor & Lifeguard in Cambridge, MA. In this multi-faceted role, you will teach private and group swim lessons to adults and children, assist (seasonally) with the MIT Summer Day Camp operations, lifeguard & monitor patrons, and support the Assistant Director of Programs with administrative tasks for the learn to swim and private lesson programs. MIT is proud to host 2 aquatic facilities that include a 50-meter Olympic-size pool and 2 six-lane, 25-yard pools. Anticipated schedule is Saturday-Wednesday (September – May) and Monday-Friday during Summer Camp (June – August).


Role Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience teaching swimming and Lifeguard certification from American Red Cross or YMCA.
  • CPR/AED & First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ideal candidates will have experience teaching both adults and child and experience lifeguarding in an aquatic facility.
