Preferred arrangement is 3 days per week in office (Reston, VA or Lexington Park, MD) with remainder being remote. Other arrangements will also be considered based on employee's home location. For all arrangements, occasional travel to the Precise Systems, Inc. headquarters in Lexington Park, MD will be required

We are seeking a Lead Purchasing Specialist who supports purchasing activity of high dollar value and complexity with limited direction and oversight, assists Procurement leadership with internal audits and documentation reviews for more junior staff, and serves as a subject matter expert for the purchasing function.

Duties:

• Source, quote, and order products of high dollar value, volume, and/or complexity in support of Precise and our customers in accordance with Precise Systems procurement policies and procedures
• Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
• Perform market research and analyze competitors to determine what products are featured in in various online marketplaces
• Independently negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
• Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, or delivery issues.
• Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities
• Prepare and place purchase orders through CostPoint for the purchase of goods and services
• Work with the management team to ensure all deliveries satisfy internal and external customers
• Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers
• Prepare reports and updates as and when required
• Identifies and resolves complex issues and problems on assigned purchases
• Conducts internal audits and reviews of purchasing files and documentation generated by more junior staff
• Serves as a mentor for less experienced staff

Required Education:

• Bachelors degree from an accredited institution. Additional years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree

Required Experience:

• At least 8 years of relevant government contracting experience in procurement or purchasing
• Strong experience and proficiency with Deltek CostPoint purchasing software for government
• Comprehensive knowledge and extensive experience working with the FAR, DFARS, commercial and government acquisition process
• Working knowledge of business principles in the areas of procurement, finance, and accounting
• Advanced interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Proficiency with MS Office
• Motivated self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
• Attention to detail, problem-solving, and strong time management skills
• Ability to handle multiple high visibility critical tasks simultaneously
