PacArctic, a Koniag Government Services company, is hiring a full time Lead Journeyman Electrician to support PAC and our government customer in Kodiak, Alaska.

Lead electrician will supervise, evaluate, plan, and participate in the electrical day-to-day operation, maintenance, repair and construction of the base owned electrical utility system (KEA owns most of the electrical utility for Base Kodiak), building/facility distribution system(s) and equipment.
Lead journeyman electrician shall serve as the primary supervisor, technician, and technical resource for the electrical distribution systems inside building/facilities, and base owned electrical utility system. Electrician shall ensure that all required maintenance and repair efforts receive identification, initiate documentation, and provide repairs/modifications to existing systems.
All necessary maintenance or repairs (as either operations maintenance, repairs, service, or work requests) shall be accomplished in an appropriate and timely fashion.
Electrician will also provide support of construction projects to help facilitate the base’s needs, such as providing additional outlets, running new homeruns, replacing/modernizing load banks/electrical panels, replacing VFDs, process controls, etc. In all cases, maintenance and repairs shall be performed as necessary to prevent undue wear and tear, prolong the useful life of equipment and systems, and promote the most efficient and economical performance.
Requirements:
The electrician must currently hold a State of Alaska Electrician Journeyman certification of fitness per Alaska State Statute 8 AAC 90.160.
The electrician shall have a minimum of ten (10) years documented experience as an electrician where working with electrical distribution and power systems. The electrician shall have a minimum of two (2) years’ working with utility systems such as building feed wire systems, transformers, electrical connection boxes/meters.
The electrician shall have a thorough knowledge and understanding with VFDs, SCADA, process controls, Industrial equipment including Generators, Boilers, Treatment Plant Processes, etc.
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience supervising other workers who monitor, operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems as well as associated equipment.
Familiarity with and knowledge of electrical codes and best practices with regard to electrical distribution and power systems.
Knowledge of the safety hazards and necessary safety precautions connected with electrical systems.
Working Environment & Conditions
This position is primarily outdoors and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; bend, stoop, climb; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to stand or sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs independently and lift and/or move up to 75 lbs with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
