Laundry Attendant Job Description

*Seasonal Position*

Position Purpose:
Maintain a constant supply of clean linens for the hotel. Works at the direction of the Housekeeping Manager in performing the cleaning and processing of all linens and bedding necessary to facilitiate the functions of the Resort.

70 % Perform all stages of linen processing (i.e., sorting and weighing soiled and unsoiled
linen, loading and unloading washers and dryers, folding and storing linen).
10 % Clean laundry machinery.
10 % Assist in laundry inventories.
10 % Clean laundry area.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a
combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each
function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the
company.


  • Keep work area neat and organized
  • Respond to guest requests.
  • Report all mechanical problems and hazardous conditions to supervisor, manager or Security
Department

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain
and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without
reasonable accommodation.


  • Ability arrive to work on time and when scheduled.
  • Ability to stand on feet up to 7 hours a day and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate washer and dryer equipment.
  • Physically able to move / lift, large, heavy objects such as: linen, linen carts and/or bags
of linen Physically able to operate cleaning equipment such as: brooms, spray bottles
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and associates verbally or in written form,
over the phone or in person.
  • Ability to learn, follow and enforce standards for cleanliness as they apply to the laundry
area.
  • Ability to follow all safety procedures/standards and able to recognize and act in
emergency situations.

NOTICE:
The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition,
this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with JL Hospitality rules and
regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Associates who violate hotel
rules and regulations will be subjected to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of
employment.
