Job Summary

Work is performed for the Environmental Services Department and involves manual labor of a semi-skilled nature. This includes both heavy and light physical labor in a wide variety of County activities. This position also involves the semi-skilled operation of heavy equipment associated with the Shelby County Landfill and/or assigned projects.

  • Performs daily/routine maintenance and fueling on light, medium, and heavy equipment.
  • Assists equipment operators and landfill personnel as needed.
  • Operates various pieces of heavy equipment as needed.
  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications and Requirements


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


  • Valid driver's license.
  • Work experience maintaining and operating heavy equipment.
  • The ability to obtain a Class B CDL within one year of employment is required.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Class A or B CDL License.

Physical Demands & Work Environment


WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily outdoors with exposure to weather extremes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is heavy in nature and consists of standing, lifting, carrying, and pushing of up to 100 pounds, with assistance if needed.
