Summary

The Laborer Apprentice will be enrolled in a program in which he/she will train under capable and experienced journey workers in the tasks of carrying out logistics, equipment and material handling and assisting with installation of work, all under the direction of jobsite supervisors. This position will be exposed to the following duties and will participate in classroom and supplemental training.

Roles and Responsibilities

Acquires the skills to become a Laborer by learning/helping in the following areas:

Supply Chain Logistics

  • Inspects quality of materials and signs tickets
  • Maintains hydration and sanitation stations
  • Properly designates the location and storage of flammable liquids

Equipment/Materials

  • Loads and unloads trucks
  • Assists in inspection of fall protection equipment
  • Signals and flags crane and truck operators
  • Rigs loads for hoisting

Installation of Work

  • Cleans columns, walls, floors, tools, and equipment during & after pours.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping of worksite
  • Serves as a confined space attendant


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1-year related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to exert heavy physical effort, handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, climb or crawl
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Work involves exposure to outside weather conditions and dirt, dust, fumes, and/or loud noises
