Rural outpatient clinic several hundred miles west of Anchorage, AK seeking a permanent, full-time Laboratory Assistant.

Relocation assistance of $15,000, 30 days of temporary housing provided

Sign-on bonus available as well!

Salary: $60,000-$80,000 annually, DOE

Laboratory Assistant Description:

  • Laboratory Assistant is a full-time permanent position
  • Performs, interprets, and correlates clinical laboratory tests by following protocols to assist in the physician diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease
  • Expected to utilize complex problem-solving skills in resolving clinicial and instrument problems
  • Adheres to all Laboratory policies and procedures, including Compliance, HIPAA, CQI, OSHA, state licensing and accreditation guidelines.
  • Operates and maintains instruments in proper working order. Adheres to quality control protocols policies and procedures. Participates in validation of new/existing assays and instruments. Troubleshoots and reports problems as needed
  • Tremendous culture in the hospital

Laboratory Assistant Qualifications:

  • Must be certified by ASCP, AMT, or have equivalent certification.
  • One to three years of related or progressively more responsible experience in chemistry, blood bank, hematology and microbiology or formal student internship preferred
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of general lab functions: Hematology, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Urinalysis, Serology, Blood Banking, Microbiology, and Coagulation. Working knowledge of requirements of Lab Quality Assurance and Point of Care testing per NCCLs, CAP, and TJC. Knowledge of or experience with concepts and principles to total quality management, team process and change theory
  • Medical Laboratory Technician must be capable of working independently and providing direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
