Environmental Laboratory Technician

PSI, an Intertek company, is searching for an Environmental Laboratory Technician to join our Building & Construction team in our Pittsburgh, PA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the environmental, engineering and construction industry!

The Building & Construction team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services and building science solutions to deliver Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. The team offers the environmental, engineering and construction industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on site.

What you’ll do:

• Sample log-in for laboratory analysis
• Preparing and analyzing samples
• Laboratory report generation through LIMS system
• Performing equipment calibration, operation, and maintenance

Familiarity with the following is recommended, but not mandatory:

• Polarized Light Microscopy (EPA 600/M4-82-020)
• Phase Contrast Microscopy (NIIOSH Method 7400)
• Flame Atomic Absorption Techniques
• EPA SW-846 Method 7420/7000B
• Analysis for Metals: in Paint, Soil, Dust, and Air
• TCLP Analysis for Lead

What it takes to be successful in this role:

• High School degree or equivalent required
• BS/BA in Geology, Chemistry, Natural Sciences, or other Science-related degree is preferred
• Experience in environmental consulting services is preferred but not required
• 6+ months of laboratory experience is required
• Experience with LIMS preferred
• Ability to read, understand, and implement standard operating procedures and other quality documents
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements
• Must be able to work off shifts, off hours, and overtime to meet aggressive schedules of clients
