Lab Manager (SRA-II), Baraban Lab Job at UCSF CAMPUS

UCSF CAMPUS San Francisco, CA

Job Summary
Translational neuroscience laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) seeks a qualified, experienced and reliable Lab Manager (SRA-II). The SRA-II will join a highly interactive, innovative and intellectually stimulating environment. NIH-funded research in the Baraban Lab is based on a multi-disciplinary strategy incorporating zebrafish, rodents, pigs and California sea lions. Understanding the fundamental basis of intractable epilepsies, especially rare genetic forms that occur in children, and using this information to develop novel treatments is our overall mission.

We have two primary research programs in the laboratory:
  • developing an interneuron-based cell therapy for epilepsy (https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2020/10/418746/struggling-sea-lions-may-benefit-ucsf-neuroscience-research) and
  • utilizing zebrafish for the study of genetic epilepsies and drug discovery (https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2017/03/405986/zebrafish-patient-approach-speeds-search-childhood-epilepsy-treatments).

Technical and operational support for the laboratory is provided by SRAs. The SRA-II is necessary to support both research programs, as well as provide administrative assistance and training of junior personnel/undergraduates that join the laboratory. The Baraban Lab particularly acknowledges the acute need to remove barriers to recruitment, retention, and advancement of candidates from historically excluded populations who are currently underrepresented in academia. Applications from URMs, POC, and women are strongly encouraged.
