LA Kids Acting/Drama Instructors
Recreation Instructor Positions

Hours: Estimated 10-20 hours per week

Various recreation centers throughout the City of Los Angeles:

Location: San Fernando Valley, Northeast LA, Lincoln Heights, Boyle Heights, &/or Downtown, Echo Park, Atwater, South LA, San Pedro, Harbor City, Torrance, Hollywood, Korea Town, plus City of LA facilities in the areas in between. (Instructors hired will be able to choose service area preferences.)

Provide instruction in one or more of the following class genres:

Acting: Shakespeare/Classical Acting: Scene Study

Acting: Accents & Dialects Drama: Set Design
Acting: Comedy & Improv Drama: Costume Design

Acting: Drama: Musical Theatre (Songs, Staging, & Cold Readings/Auditions
Dance)

Acting: Commercials

Spoken Word/ Poetry

Must have experience instructing and/or implementing instruction to youth. Must have experience performing at a high school, collegiate, and/or professional level in one or more of the above genres. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to various parts of Los Angeles. (Instructors hired will have the ability to indicate specific geographic work areas.)
Must be available to work at least three days per week from 3:30pm to 8:00pm. Occasional Saturdays may also be required. All City of Los Angeles employees are mandated to be fully vaccinated & must be willing to wear a mask during work hours. Ability to teach in multiple disciplines/genres is desired. Ability to effectively teach youth and act as a role model is required. Ability to be punctual, autonomous, self-governing, and motivated towards excellence is required. Ability to promote classes in a community context through word of mouth, networking with location--recreation centers, delivering and distributing flyers to schools, organizations, and local businesses, and effectively communicating with community members, especially parents is required.

Dates: To be Determined Upon Availability of Instructor & Sites

Pay Rate: $20.48 per hour

(Application process will include a verbal interview and a possible class setting audition. Please come prepared to show a portfolio.)
