Full-time kennel attendant needed for busy dog boarding and day care facility in Oak Brook, Illinois. Oak Brook Kennel Club is located on two acres in a quiet residential neighborhood. We have a capacity for 70+ dogs, 10 cats and other pets including small mammals, birds and reptiles. We have a private cattery and take pets of all types for short and long-term stays. We provide urgent drop-off and have a thriving day care business. We care for 18-20 dogs per day and average 50-70 on weekends and holidays. We are a family business and the owners work the business and are on site daily.

We are looking for high-energy and personable people who are comfortable around animals of all shapes and sizes. Applicant duties will include cleaning, mopping and sterilizing cages, preparing meals and feeding, medicating, bathing, and monitoring our guest’s daily intake and output. Exterior duties include walking and playing with dogs of all sizes; grooming and sanitizing dog runs; raking leaves and removing debris from our play yards.

Work is performed in a kennel setting with potential exposure to high noise levels, zoonotic disease, animal bites and scratches. Work is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to inclement weather, cleaning agents, and animal waste. Frequent walking, standing, bending, and stooping are required to perform the essential functions of the job. Regular lifting of 40-50 pounds is required. Must be willing to get dirty while cleaning kennels. We are located in a residential neighborhood with outdoor runs and play areas. We do not have group-based daycare. Playtime is individualized and conducted outside in our play areas and not in a warehouse setting. Uniform shirts provided. At least one weekend workday is required. Holidays worked on a rotation. Salary review within first 90 days.

No experience necessary. Previous experience as a Vet Assistant, professional pet-sitter, pet-walker or experience in a boarding or daycare facility a plus.
