Windsor SchoolK-8 Art Teacher2023/24Windsor School is seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, student-centered art educator for grades PK-8 for the 2023/24 academic year. Currently, the k-8 art program is heavily focused on student voice and choice in an authentic studio environment through the philosophy of T.A.B (Teaching for Artistic Behavior). This program focuses on authentic student art, authentic studio experience and space, and on the behaviors of artists known as the Studio Habits of Mind. The ideal candidate will be familiar with T.A.B philosophy, instruction and structures, be highly qualified to facilitate student agency in the art classroom, and have excellent classroom management strategies.

We are actively seeking someone who will continue to advance the studio model for art instruction, and work to improve opportunities for students to have authentic studio experiences through their participation in visual art. The candidate should be comfortable facilitating learning opportunities for students at a variety of developmental levels, and managing learners who are engaged in a wide variety of artistic endeavors simultaneously. Job Description: To plan, organize, and present art instruction that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.Qualifications: Vermont State Teaching Certification or Bachelor Degree and working toward a teaching certificationPosition Responsibilities Leads the classroom by taking responsibility for all students learning. Provides an environment in which each child has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults by encouraging a climate that is inviting, respectful, supportive, inclusive, and flexible.

Treats students as individuals by maintaining high expectations for all students; and by appreciating differences and valuing contributions. Works collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their students by improving communication and collaboration between the school, the home and community. Knows the ways in which learning takes place and the appropriate levels of intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. Plans instruction appropriate for students by collaborating with colleagues Integrates and utilizes technology in instruction by knowing when and how to use technology to maximize student learning.

Helps students develop critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills by encouraging students to ask questions, think creatively, and be curious. Uses a variety of methods to assess what each student has learned by using multiple indicators to evaluate student progress.
