Job Summary
Xavier University of Louisiana is accepting applications for the position of Junior Web Developer. The position is responsible for building websites and ensuring the security and functionality of websites and web servers. Ability to work with designers to create website designs, and marketers to create website ads and ad-words campaigns. Proficiency in writing HTML and CSS for front end website development and in editing, grammar and review of web content and website design is essential. Must understand Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Cascade, HubSpot, WordPress, or Drupal. The position must understand Google analytics, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or other tools to measure and manage site traffic and engagement. Must have the ability to make timely updates to websites and make necessary updates to improve performance, fix broken links and images, improve page load speeds, and minimize downtime. AA/EOE
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/BA in Computer Science, Website Design, Business, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years’ Web Content and/or Web programming experience
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and XML, with a working knowledge of JavaScript and SQL
- Previous experience as a Webmaster or Web Developer
- Understanding of web analytics
- Familiar with web content management systems such as Cascade, WordPress or Sitefinity
- Knowledge of search engine optimization and current best practices
- Familiar with current web standards
- Knowledge of tools for website management
- Proficient in HTML/CSS and XML
- Knowledge of JavaScript and SQL
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication abilities.
- Requires technical project management and team coordination experience in a business environment
- Experience with training, software development methodologies and project management a plus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Description
1. Build functional websites that are easy to use
2. Collaborate with marketing staff on website ad campaigns
3. Collaborate with designers to agree on a design for the websites
4. Create a website style guide or template for cohesive design elements across all pages
5. Test websites using different devices, browsers, and operating systems
6. Update content on the website to keep pages fresh and intriguing
7. Review the site content and update with current SEO trends
8. Monitor, analyze, and report on all online traffic
9. Analyze site performance
10. Ensure web site and web server functionality and efficiency
11. Performs other duties as assigned
