JOB FUNCTION:

As directed, performs drafting work associated with additions to, and changes in the physical facilities of the Company. Performs field checks and assists in field investigations. Maintains records as assigned.


FUNDAMENTAL RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Under the direction of Designers and Engineers, prepares detailed drawings for shop fabrication or field installations utilizing drawings, sketches, manufacturers’ literature, and written or verbal instructions. Creates maps, graphs and charts.
  • Researches and compiles information from various sources and transposes data from sketches and construction drawings to operating maps and other records, or makes new drawings to show existing and future facilities.
  • Applies underground and overhead Company standards specified to make drawings and instructions and prepares detailed drawings for field installations of underground and overhead lines, vaults, switching equipment and other construction as required.
  • Obtains clarification of data on drawings received and reports discrepancies to the appropriate individual.
  • Assists in the preparation and issuance of work orders, material list or other forms.
  • Converts electronic data drawings between mediums such as Autocad, CADDS, Microstation and Adobe Acrobat including making corrections of errors as necessary for the project and issuance.
  • Responsible for field checks of equipment installations/changes to validate operating maps and drawings on an independent or assisted basis.
  • Assists in making field investigations (takes measurements, notes physical conditions); gathers field data and obtains drawings/specifications and other information for preparation of drawings.
  • Operates all related workstation equipment and computer terminals as required, such as Microstation, Autocad, AMFM, CADDS, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Makes calculations using calculators, computers, etc.
  • Operates Company vehicle.


Other Responsibilities:

  • Performs similar and incidental duties as required

FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Technician Occupations Selection System (TECH). Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the TECH.
  • Must pass the SRA Oral & Written Directions Test.
  • Must be able to pass the Company drafting test.
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
  • Must have successfully completed a two-year drafting course at the community college level or have equivalent on-the-job training or other equivalents.
