JOB TITLE: IT Senior System Administrator FLSA: Non-Exempt

IT REPORTS TO: IT Director


SUMMARY: Performs all functions according to established policies and procedures, related to receiving calls from attorneys, managers, staff and vendors and directs them to the appropriate individual(s) within the IT Department. Maintains contact with attorneys, staff and clients and observes confidentiality of client and firm matters.


The IT Senior Systems Administrator works closely with the Director of Information Technology and the members of the IT department. The IT Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for administration/maintenance, project management, supporting IT incidents, optimal system performance, security standards, and meeting business continuity and disaster recover requirements for assigned systems.


The IT Senior Systems Administrator functions as a subject matter expert for a variety of systems used by the Firm, assisting internal/external customers for incident and problem resolution, helping and advising on the IT security of the firm, taking on IT tasks as needed or assigned.


The IT Senior Systems Administrator will be cross-trained to cover and assist other team members roles as needed.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports daily helpdesk requests.


Ensures all phases of systems administration are properly coordinated, monitored, documented, tracked and overall maintained at an optimal functional/performance level.


Provides hands -on support for any system issues/problems by working with other IT Department members, other firm administrative departments, consultants, vendors, or other deemed necessary to address an assigned incident or problem.


Utilizes a helpdesk system to document all requests and issues reported by employees and/or lawyers.


Works with and manages vendors (as assigned by the Director), service providers, or consultants to help maintain systems and services, resolve support incidents, and complete projects.


Adheres to all IT policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.


Helps develop and advises the Director on the IT procedures and policies required to perform the duties of the firm’s IT department.


Assist in the development and implementation of IT security policies, standards, procedures and protocols.


Remains current with the latest technologies.


Other duties as assigned by the Director, CFO or Managing Lawyer.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Thorough knowledge of current software applications (i.e., Windows (firm’s current version) on desktop/laptop, FileSite, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Server, all firm specific applications.


Two years of progressively responsible work experience with PC-based legal or professional services firm/organization in order to gain experience in resolving complex computer problems.


Ability of multi-task, rapidly analyze issues, establish priorities, anticipate consequences, make decisions and initiate action.


Interpersonal skills necessary in order to maintain effective relationships with attorneys and staff in person, by e-mail and telephone to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.


Ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge of information processing with diverse, changing applications.

Ability to demonstrate familiarity with LAN/WAN and computer networks. Some hardware experience helpful.


Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys and staff, oral and written.


Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties. Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with time constraints, interruptions and stressed attorneys and staff.


Work occasionally requires more than the established office hours per week to perform the essential dues of the position. Must be able to work overtime, nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


Normal office environment with some exposure to noise, dust temperature and the like.
