SALARY RANGE

The starting salary range for this position is $70,560 - $88,200 (based on qualifications). With tenure and strong performance in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $105,840, annualized.

The starting salary range for this position is $88,240 - $110,300 (based on qualifications). With tenure and strong performance in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $132,360, annualized.

The starting salary range for this position is $103,680 - $129,600 (based on qualifications). With tenure and strong performance in this role an employee may earn up to a maximum of $155,520, annualized.

Introductory Period: New employees holding regular positions must complete an introductory period of twelve months.

JOB POSTING

This position will be filled at the Platform Data & Engineer I, II or III level, contingent upon the experience of the selected candidate.


Overview: The Platform & Data Engineer is responsible for designing, configuring and implementing platform and data solutions to support District needs. Support enterprise class web and application server infrastructure solutions; application integration platform and middleware infrastructure implementation, deployment, administration, maintenance and patching; database standards, administration, implementation, maintenance; access; and performance tuning; documentation across multiple environments on supported technologies; and providing continuous improvement ideas to reduce expenses and/or improve efficiency.

Platform & Data Engineer I – This is the first of four levels in this job series. Able to perform independently in one of the following functional areas while learning and growing in at least one other area: Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, Database Engineering

Platform & Data Engineer II - This is the intermediate level in this job series. Able to perform independently in two or more of the following functional areas while learning and growing in the third functional area: Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, Database Engineering

Platform & Data Engineer III - This is the career or fully skilled level in this job series. Is a subject matter expert and able to perform independently in all 3 areas: Platform Engineering, Data Engineering and Database Engineering.

Responsibilities

- Platform Engineering - Maintain, configure, and implement web and application server technologies and concepts (Oracle WebLogic, Apache, Tomcat). Configure and implement web and application server components. Operating system administration (Unix/Linux), shell scripting and problem determination skills. Application integration platform configuration and administration (Oracle SOA/OSB, MuleSoft, Boomi or similar), Configure and maintain virtualization and Oracle RAC systems.

- Data Engineering - Implement solutions that help make data more useful to the enterprise. Build algorithms and integrations to provide easier access to raw data. Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality.

- Database Administration - Maintain the performance of Oracle and MS SQL Server database servers. Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors. Optimize database performance and security. Administer database access. Performance tuning of database systems. Install, upgrade, and administer database applications.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Comply with District policies. Complete all required training. Maintain a working knowledge and comply with District safety procedures and specific safety requirements of this position, and those in accordance with applicable provisions of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC). Employees with access to confidential employee records and information are required to restrict access from any unauthorized person, except on a need to know basis.

Education

Equivalent experience (year for year) may substitute for required education.

Platform & Data Engineer I, II, III : Bachelor's Degree (B.S., B.A.) in a Computer Sciences field required.

Platform & Data Engineer I Experience:

  • 1 year experience in platform or data engineering and/or database administration preferred.

Platform & Data Engineer II Experience:

  • 2+ years Related experience performing platform or data engineering and/or database administration responsibilities or closely related experience required.
  • Utility industry experience desired.

Platform & Data Engineer III Experience:

  • 5+ years Related experience performing platform or data engineering and/or database administration in a lead role or closely related experience required.
  • Utility industry experience desired.
