Inventory Accounting Assistant - Remote

Essential Function

Our Inventory Accounting Assistant owns the preparation of Inventory Reconciliations including the computation of store shrink rate, answers field questions, verifies inventory accuracy and monitors daily inventory activity.

Primary Duties

  • Own the preparation of Excel-based Physical Store Inventory and/or Warehouse Account reconciliations, including the computation of store shrink rate, according to the policies and procedures established by Inventory Accounting. Verify that multiple systems are in alignment. Research and resolve reconciling differences.
  • Support and track daily inventory activity. Communicate with the field regarding unusual adjustments.
  • Review shipment variances, verify shipment and collect evidence to support or to deny store claims related to shrinkage. Prepare appropriate journal entries to credit/charge stores.
  • Responsible for resolving conflicts between field management and inventory services. Develops a strong relationship with field management as well as the inventory services.
  • Provide assistance in special projects and management requests as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High School diploma
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience and or college course work in Accounting
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Reconciliation or analysis experience required
  • Experience in Retail or Inventory Accounting preferred
  • JDA software experience preferred

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
