Position Overview:

This Compliance Auditor role will have primary responsibility for leading a variety of independent assurance and consulting projects covering the operational, regulatory, and reporting processes of Sutter Health and its Affiliates’ functions related to hospital coding & billing compliance.

Responsible for advancing the departmental mission in a manner consistent with the values and standards of Sutter Health, the Department and the internal audit profession. Participates in annual risk assessment and work plan development processes, supervising and developing audit and administrative staff, and fostering important strategic partnerships with other functions and affiliates. Responsible for leading a variety of independent assurance and consulting services covering the operational and reporting processes of Sutter Health and its Affiliates' financial, clinical, and other support service functions. Leading these projects consists of establishing project objectives and scope, developing and complying with project budgets and timelines, coordinating engagement team members, writing reports, ensuring quality of project deliverables, and facilitating effective communication and coordination with client management. Participates in improving the efficient and effective delivery of the Department's assurance and consulting services including promoting the department brand, complying with department and professional standards, participating in department initiatives and internal process improvement projects, and providing input into the enhancement of audit methodologies, work flows and tools.

Job Description:

This role is in the Ethics & Compliance Team and involves hospital coding and billing compliance.

Candidate must be a certified coder (CPC of CCS) to be considered for this role.

This role has a work from home opportunity and candidate must come on site as needed for meetings, etc. Only accepting candidates in California for this role.

EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

Bachelor's: Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics or comparable field. or equivalent education/experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

CPC-Certified Professional Coder

OR Coding Audit, CCS-Certified Coding Specialist

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

5 years of experience in auditing and/or consulting.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Firm understanding of audit theory and processes and of the professional practice standards of internal auditing as well as core control frameworks.

Advanced analytical and project management skills, including the ability to analyze data and information, reach practical conclusions, recommend corrective actions, resolve conflicts, and institute effective changes.

Ability to:

Work independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team, while demonstrating excellent organization skills.

Manage multiple priorities/projects simultaneously, sometimes with rapidly changing priorities.

Maintain audit/projects/schedules.

Meet tight and often conflicting deadlines.

Analyze possible solutions using precedents, existing departmental guidelines and policies, experience and good judgment to identify and solve standard problems.

Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).

Build collaborative relationships with peers, other departments, stakeholders, and external agencies.

Able to display a high degree of professionalism and leadership.

Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical or sensitive information related to audit activities clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.

Pay Range: $50.38-$75.57

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
