REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work history also required, preferably with at risk adolescents, and conducting street outreach. Knowledge of local resources available to homeless and runaway youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain order and exercise appropriate judgment in crisis situations, including the physical ability to intervene in critical or emergency situations. Demonstrated understanding of conflict resolution skills required.
  • Must possess effective written, verbal, and listening skills with a demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to culturally diverse populations. Strong skill-set in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to meet agency standards for attendance and punctuality.
  • Must have current Florida Driver’s License and good driving record.

SCHEDULE: Saturday & Sunday 8am - 6:00pm

REPORTS TO: Program Services Coordinator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the daily function of the Intake area and greet all residents unconditionally and assist them with entering the CHF environment. Establish rapport with new and recidivist residents. Familiarize and assist residents with the assessment process. Conduct Intake utilizing the agency’s intake assessment tool. Guide and advocate for the residents in planning future goals and setting attainable objectives. Prepare residents for discharge so they can maintain and build upon their plan achievements.
  • Respond to inquiries from youth visitors, police, general public, donors, and other social service agencies. Answer 24-hour telephone lines and properly provide crisis counseling, information/referrals. Communicate pertinent information with staff and youth throughout each shift. Take an active part in shift transition and provide vital information about residents and referrals. Ensure that documentation is completed in a timely manner and meets the standards established by state license requirements, funding sources, and agency policies, including filing and tracking data for grant objectives.
  • Supervise residents, maintain order and exercise appropriate judgment at all times (i.e. at meal times, on the residential floors, in common areas, on recreations, and during escorts). Assist youth in emergencies as directed by supervisor. Defuse physical and verbal confrontation with youth, using appropriate verbal behavioral de-escalation techniques.
  • Monitor physical plant and maintain a clean, safe environment. Assist and supervise youth in general cleanliness of all residential living and common areas. Ensure that work areas are clean and organized before, during, and at end of shift.
  • Assist residents and general public with the necessary community resources/referrals. Escort youths to the appointments as appropriate. Make referrals to other agencies and in-house projects and follow-up with the referrals.
  • Ensure that the Life Skills Area and other common areas are monitored for compliance with agency standards for physical plant, including cleanliness, safety and maintenance needs.
  • Provide case management services including, but not limited to: Intake, assessments, youth orientation, and discharge planning.
  • Drive company vehicles to escort youth to and from activities, hospital visits, school, and various other appointments, etc.
  • Must be able to occasionally exert up to 15-20 pounds of force to lift or carry. Must frequently move about both indoors and outdoors.
