This position allows for a flex remote work capacity whereby time is spent in a remote setting as well as on-campus as needed to meet job responsibilities. Work placement, remote and on-site, is determined based upon the needs of the College and is subject to CVTC remote work policy and specific department workplace expectations.

The Instructional Technologist works closely with full-time and adjunct faculty to assess and improve technology skills. This position is directly accountable to the Director of Educational Technology and is responsible for providing professional development training across the college and working with the Information Technology (IT) department to implement and support instructional technology processes and tools. The Instructional Technologist obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs, prepare training materials, develop course content, determine methodology, coordinate the development of training aids, and conduct training sessions. The Instructional Technologist administers the Learning Management System (LMS) and course evaluation tool utilized by the College. Additionally, the Instructional Technologist provides support and guidance related to online and alternative delivery course design and delivery.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist faculty with LMS course maintenance and work with IT on LMS performance problems.
  • Lead training, develop resources, and provide ongoing maintenance of LMS for all CVTC employees.
  • Provide primary system administration, training, and support for LMS.
  • Develop training for college-wide alternative delivery and technology needs to carry out strategic goals.
  • Provide LMS, instructional technology, and high impact practice training during new faculty onboarding.
  • Plan, design, and develop instructional elements for target audience/market.
  • Promote quality standards within the LMS and alternative delivery courses by mentoring CVTC employees.
  • Work with academic leadership and Professional Development team to assist faculty in meeting instructional standards related to technology and the use of the LMS.
  • Develop and deliver on-demand technology trainings in multiple formats for CVTC employees.
  • Address data related to compliance issues within the LMS and work with employees to resolve (e.g., copyright, accessibility, and College policies).
  • Collaborate with Professional Development team to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the college.
  • Coordinate State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) application and renewal process.
  • Work with Professional Development team to create and deliver institutional trainings.
  • Attend conferences/professional development to keep current with educational technologies.
  • Conduct high-level analysis as an active contributor and decision maker as an educational technology strategist.
  • Assist with emerging instructional technologies and make recommendations about enterprise adoptions.
  • Oversee faculty and course evaluation system.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to various campuses.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Professional Communication, Training & Development, Technology, Online Learning, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in training and development or teaching.
  • Online teaching experience.
