Merrillville Intermediate School 6.5 hours/7.5 hours


PAID ACCORDING TO CLERICAL SALARY SCHEDULE CATEGORY V $14.34-$17.64 PER HOUR

QUALIFICATIONS: COMPLETED AT LEAST 2 YEARS OF STUDY AT AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION, OR OBTAINED AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE OR HIGHER. PREFERRED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE MET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

(1) Post High school work in education or a related field;

(2) Previous work experience in instructional program

documented by letter(s) of reference.

(3) Previous experience as a classroom assistant documented by letter(s) of reference and description of responsibilities.

PREFERENCE GIVEN TO LICENSED TEACHERS OR CANDIDATES WITH A COLLEGE DEGREE


DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher.
  • Assist in planning learning experiences for the students.
  • Assist in the production of instructional materials and use of technology.
  • Assist in implementing classroom routines.
  • Assist in instruction-related clerical tasks including scoring of student products.
  • Work with students on activities, while the teacher works with small groups of students.
  • Assist with monitoring student learning.
  • Tutor students to strengthen skills or concepts under the supervision of the teacher.
  • Confer regularly with the classroom teacher about the programs and achievement of each student.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information/data.
  • Help with the planning and implementation of after school parent meetings.
  • Successful interview with Building Principal
  • Perform other related duties as directed by teacher and/or principal.
