For a limited time MaineHealth is offering a $10,000 Sign on bonus for all eligible Registered Nurses with 0-3 years of RN experience and $20,000 for Registered Nurses with greater than 3 years of RN work experience!

  • Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
  • Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Southern Maine Health Care has an immediate need for an Inpatient Wound Ostomy Nurse (RN) to join our care team. Candidates with WOCN, WCC, or WTA experience and RNs who have the passion to learn & train in this area are encouraged to apply.

Position Summary

The Inpatient Wound Ostomy Nurse will develop and lead a wound care program to include patient care protocols, documentation tools, wound care formulary, and WOCN referral criteria. Accountable for the management and coordination of wound care/tissue viability and nursing services within SMHC’s inpatient services and emergency department. Functions under the general supervision of the Wound Care Medical Director and accountable to Wound Program Nursing Director. Inpatient Wound Ostomy Nurse will coordinate and provide effective team participation and leadership within a multidisciplinary team, and assist with the provision of expert clinical advice and training to the hospital health care team. The Inpatient Wound Ostomy Nurse will liaise with other professionals and team members involved in the management of wound care in acute and chronic wounds demonstrating the ability to assess and manage patients in collaboration with the consultant physicians.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: B.S.N. is preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current licensure from the Maine State Board of Nursing. BLS required. WOCN Board certified preferred but not necessary.
  • Experience: Recommended one year acute care clinical nursing experience in the last 5 years.
