Brown and Caldwell, a national environmental engineering firm, has an exciting opportunity for an entry-level engineer to help work on the design and construction phases of infrastructure projects for municipal and private sector clients in our Phoenix, AZ office. You will provide civil/mechanical engineering support for a variety of projects which may include planning studies, evaluation, design, and construction-related activities for wastewater, water, and stormwater conveyance systems, pumping systems, and related facilities.

Detailed Description:

In this role, you will work closely with senior-level mentors to complete a wide range of engineering tasks. Tasks could include existing record or product research, condition assessment of existing assets, design calculations, design or assessment reports, product selection, rehabilitation design, in-field site observation or evaluation, and development of detailed project specifications and drawings sets. Our ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly motivated, excited to learn, organized, and capable of working in a diverse team environment. This position is for a Staff Engineer that would have the following expectations:

  • Involved in wastewater and water utilities design including pumping station and conveyance systems assessment, planning, and design.
  • Successfully manage and deliver tasks within the allotted time and budget.
  • Utilize internal design tools and resources.
  • Perform technical research and be able to communicate and apply this knowledge.
  • Develop well-thought-out written documents
  • Perform structured work assignments
  • Use existing procedures to solve routine and standard problems
  • Receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others
  • Professional interaction with client and external project teams
  • Basic to intermediate critical thinking, accountability, collaboration, communication, self-discipline, and self-development skills

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Candidate should have at least zero to four years of professional experience in the study and/or design within the water and wastewater industry.
  • Preferred, not required, the candidate will have or be in the process to obtain professionally registered engineer in the State of Arizona.
  • The candidate should have the ability to successfully work within a team setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $61,000-$83,000
