Infectious Disease/Primary Care Physician

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Provide direct patient care services to adult patients, including primary care, urgent care, and patients with infectious diseases. Maintain a panel of primary care patients as well as patients with infectious diseases. Accepts referrals from other primary care providers of patients in need of evaluation and treatment for infectious diseases. Assesses, plans, documents, and evaluates patient needs and treatments. Ensures appropriate follow up. All documentation is made in electronic medical records. Maintain a practice that is culturally and linguistically sensitive, using interpreters and other assistance as appropriate. Refer patients, as appropriate, to specialists and other practitioners and facilities & reviews patient charts and ensures that appropriate treatment plans are developed and followed. Provide medical care for employees and patients needing HIV post-exposure prophylaxis & ongoing education and support to hepatitis C clients regarding medication and treatment regimens, including information on resistance, dosing and side effects. Provide ongoing education and support to HIV clients regarding medication and treatment regimens, including information on resistance, dosing and side effects. Provides education on HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and treatment to client’s family and support network as identified by the client. Reviews lab reports and makes clinically appropriate treatment recommendations. Assist patients and families in the adjustment of problems related to or precipitated by illness and/or HIV diagnosis.

Education Requirement:
  • Doctor of Medicine or Foreign Equivalent
  • Completion of Internal Medicine Residency Training
  • Completion of Infectious Disease Fellowship
  • Massachusetts Medical License
