Summary

Reports to the Head Teacher of the program.
The infant/toddler room teacher must be able to initiate and implement a planned group of lesson plans geared to the developmental needs of children ages eight (8) weeks through two (2) years of age. Must be aware and attentive to the needs of each child. Will assist in training and guiding the efforts of Assistant teachers. Must develop and maintain positive communications with parents. Must support and function as a member of a team. Must be knowledgeable in the basic principals of child development. Must be able to complete developmental assessments on children and meet with parents to discuss evaluations; observe, document and organize child specific information. Assist in the development of short-term and long-term objectives and goals for overall improvement in class programs.

Duties

1. Help build a supportive team and function within the team.
2. Plan (according to CCDC philosophy), implement, and direct varied and developmentally appropriate classroom activities that will enable children to develop and grow in their individual interests and abilities.
3. Assist in the development of short- and long-range objectives/goals for overall improvement in class programs.
4. Be knowledgeable in the basic principles of child development. Read and attend workshops, etc., in order to keep up to date with changing ideas, new activities, etc.
5. Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities.
6. Be sensitive and responsive to parents and act as a resource person for them.
7. Maintain open and timely communication with administration including Head Teacher in all areas pertaining to program, children, parents, and staff.
8. Complete developmental assessments on each child a minimum of two times per year. Schedule and meet with parents to discuss each evaluation within one month of completion.
9. Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.
10. Implement an effective framework for classroom discipline consisting of reasonable standards of behavior and courtesy, stemming from a foundation of respect and love.
11. Maintain a clean and orderly classroom. Keep classroom appearance bright, colorful, interesting, and inviting. Interest areas labeled; artwork displayed; equipment clean, organized, and in good repair; cubbies organized and clean; children clean.
12. Prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean, and appealing and permits the child to grow and explore.
13. Project a professional manner, including dress and speech.
14. Be familiar with procedures for: CCDC emergency, inclement weather, reporting to DCF, an ill child, incidents, discipline, field trips, late pick-up, and medication.
15. Maintain Parent Board and post accurate, timely learning experience plans, and specific notices to parents about field trips, etc.
16. Actively participate in CCDC activities, staff meetings, Parent meetings, planning sessions, workshops, open houses, etc.
17. Participate in at least 20 hours of continuing education experience each year.
18. Develop and maintain a positive, professional, working relationship with other staff. Cooperation, flexibility, and support are expected.
19. Be prompt and regular in attendance.

Requirements

Meet one of the following credentials:
A Child Development Associate Degree or
An Associates Degree or
A Bachelor's Degree from a college or university plus
Copies of educational transcripts on or before hire date and
Three written letters of reference and
Written verification of a satisfactory medical exam and either a Tuberculin test or a
chest X-ray.
