Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment.

In 2018 we moved operations into a newly renovated 300,000 sq. foot facility on 51st Street that will foster our continued growth as we continue to be recognized as the undisputed leaders in our industry.

As a result of continued growth we are looking to hire an Industrial Electrical Apprentice. To improve and grow our Electrical Assembly department.

Industrial Electrician Apprenticeship: Work on a variety of electrical applications including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, industrial machinery, and facility. Train under production supervisors, licensed JW, and electrical engineers.

Term of apprenticeship: 4 years, not less than 8320 hours. Compensation to be paid in accordance with Wisconsin DWD apprenticeship standards.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Entry Level; production electrical work;

    • Install raceway.

    • Install control and power wiring.

    • Fabricate and install supports, channels, brackets.

  • With progressive experience,

    • Power Testing / Quality Control

    • Code compliance

    • Assist with documenting methods and practices.

    • Train leads and electrical assemblers.

    • Assist with facility and machinery electrical maintenance.

    • Review / advise on electrical designs.

    • Innovate processes, facility, and operations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must attend Wisconsin Technical College System or other approved training provider, as assigned, for related instruction. Must satisfactorily complete the prescribed course material for a minimum of 720 hours. Must complete Red Cross First Aid and CPR training in first year and maintain certification throughout the apprenticeship.

  • Must have basic proficiency in electrical trade; combination of education and experience. Preference given to candidates who have completed a Technical Diploma or similar. (eg. Electricity Diploma from MATC, WCTC, MPTC or other WTCS (Wisconsin Technical College) program.

  • Demonstrate leadership. Lead by example. Influence without authority.

  • Be reliable, independent, and professional. Follow company safety policies and adhere to NFPA70E.

5. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of this job; Lifting 50+ lb, reaching overhead, climbing ladders, dexterity to use tools.
