For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the coordination, maintenance and distribution of patient images and reports in Diagnostic Imaging. Coordinates workflow to ensure efficiency of image management and works closely with Medical Records to ensure compliance for the release of medical information.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma. Diploma from a certified business school with Medical Transcription and Medical Terminology. Associate degree preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years in a healthcare related environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
Medical terminology required. Proven interpersonal skills Accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation skills necessary. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions. Must be organized, flexible and a team player. Strong computer knowledge in order to manage all aspects of electronic patient data. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Ability to handle multiple priorities. Strong commitment to customer service. Working knowledge of Windows based software (including wordprocessing, database and spreadsheet) for occasional performance of duties.

Requires the ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with little direction. Requires the ability to take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems. Requires the ability to recognize problem situations and refer them to the appropriate staff member.
