It is the mission of the Sinclair Community College Human Resources Department to pro-actively provide comprehensive human resources services including: employment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, learning and development, and other services to our customers in a timely, caring, and respectful manner.

The Human Resources Generalist position is responsible for performing and managing a variety of HR-related duties on a professional level and works with senior HR management in supporting the college’s HR functions. This position is required to carry out responsibilities for faculty and non-faculty customers in the following areas: staffing/employment; performance management; employee relations; facilitation/training; policy implementation and other HR related duties as needed.

The minimum annual salary of of this pay band is $65,147. Salary is determined commensurate with education and experience.

After sufficient training, this position is eligible to work remotely up to 40% of their scheduled time at the discretion of the supervisor.

Principal Accountabilities
Employee Relations
  • Communicate and provide guidance on college policies and processes
  • Provide oversight and direction for a variety of employment matters as it pertains to conflict resolution, employee issues, grievances, interpretation of policies and procedures, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with faculty and non-faculty divisions so that the Human Resources department can meet the departmental needs
  • Provide information to employees as they transition out of the College


Staffing/Employment
  • In conjunction with the Recruiter, assist with the recruitment and onboarding process to include consulting with all Hiring Managers and Search Committees to ensure proper management and implementation of the hiring process
  • Assist with position advertisement in all appropriate venues and networks to ensure Sinclair receives top quality and diverse talent within all applicant pools
  • Assist in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term recruiting strategies with emphasis on diversity initiatives
  • Assist with the review and update of the recruitment/hiring policies to ensure the hiring practices meet all regulatory obligations as well as the needs of the college
  • Coordinate with the Recruiter to manage the the on-line application process and serve as an administrator for the applicant tracking system used to post all positions
  • Represent Sinclair Community College at recruitment and networking events as applicable

Other HR-Related Duties
  • Facilitate or train employees on other HR-related matters, i.e., HR policies, succession planning, performance management, etc.
  • Assist in policy implementation
  • Demonstrate initiative in taking on various HR related projects as well as the openness for cross-training into other HR areas as needed
  • Assist in developing job descriptions and updating them as position duties change

Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years Human Resources work experience required; recruitment and employee relations experience in higher education preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred
  • Current working knowledge of general employment law required
  • Prior work experience in HRIS; applicant tracking or related databases required; prior work experience with Colleague/Datatel and PeopleAdmin preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate effective time management utilizing Microsoft Outlook calendars required
  • Professional communication skills to include but not limited to oral and written required
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks while providing great attention to detail and meeting all prescribed deadlines required
  • Ability to demonstrate responsiveness and a sense of urgency in supporting the staffing needs of the college required
  • Superior customer service skills to address the needs varying from higher education to corporate needs and understanding the variances in those cultures required
  • Ability to demonstrate superior listening skills and patience to address the needs of the college departments required
  • Ability to work independently while being an active team member within the HR department, and serve on applicable committees across campus required
  • Professional presentation skills to facilitate various HR related training required
  • Current working knowledge of Microsoft Office with ability to learn various databases relative to the Human Resources department or those of the departments served required
