Position Title:
HR Generalist

Employment Classification: Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Remote (Anywhere, USA)

Reports To: Chief Human Resources Officer


Role Expectations

The HR Generalist will help run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The HR Generalist will serve as a point of contact for employee questions/concerns, in addition to department supervisors for all personnel matters. As the organization continues to expand, there will be opportunities for continuous input on the direction of company benefits and total compensation structure. This role has a high potential for future growth and development opportunities.


Role Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in HR
  • Background Check: Demonstration of a clear state and federal criminal history

Role Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Verifies employment eligibility and assists with onboarding new employees
  • Implements HR systems, policies and processes training for new-hires
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the CHRO
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Helps ensure the organization maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in all areas of HR
  • Creates new talent pipelines to enhance recruitment, especially for critical teaching shortage areas
  • Implements the organization's new competency model and aligns all applicable materials, processes and procedures
  • Enhances sourcing strategies and creates/manages new external partnerships
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure and more.
  • Assists with or manages compliance-related tasks such as unemployment claims responses, ACA reporting, employee handbook & policy updates, and ensures compliance with all local/state/federal statutes and regulations
  • Limited travel may be required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of general HR experience is preferred
  • Demonstrable experience managing the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment/sourcing through offboarding
  • Solid understanding of sourcing techniques and tools (e.g. ATS, job boards, social networks)
  • General well-rounded HR knowledge (SHRM-CP certification is a big plus!)
  • Basic understanding of multi-state and federal employment laws and compliance
  • Extensive familiarity with HRIS. (Experience with BambooHR is a big plus!)
  • Self-starter who will take initiative, think outside the box, and effectively collaborate at all levels
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects/timelines/goals
  • Commitment to excellence and confidentiality
  • Highly proficient with technology and comfortable learning new software/systems
  • Prefer candidates that have experience with BambooHR, Trax, and EASE

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The remote/virtual work environment must be private and free from distractions while performing the essential functions of the job. Due to the sensitive nature of many HR functions, and the information that is accessible in this position, a private and secure network connection must be utilized. The use of unsecure public network connections is prohibited while performing any function of the job. The physical requirements for this position predominantly include sitting/standing for long periods of time, close vision through the use of a computer screen, extensive keyboarding, talking and hearing.
