Job Summary

JRK is seeking an HR Assistant to aid with and facilitate human resource processes at all business locations to join our team. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry. This position is based in our West Los Angeles office.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $25.00 to $27.00 per hour plus an annual discretionary bonus.

The company offers auto-enrollment in its 401(k) plan after 60 days of employment. New employees accrue 80 hours of vacation in the first year and earn paid sick leave per state requirements. Duties/Responsibilities

  • Processes required paperwork for employee transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related employment matters.
  • May assist with the preparation of human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files
  • Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up as needed to ensure a smooth recruiting and onboarding process for assigned regions
  • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action
  • Assists with processing of terminations
  • Schedules and organizes appointments; takes minutes during departmental meetings.
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files
  • Performs annual HR filing audits and maintains document destruction schedule
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested
  • Prepares new-employee files
  • Processes mail
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write and speak clearly and free of typos or grammatical mistakes
  • Treats everyone with respect and dignity, accepts responsibility and takes ownership of tasks, follows through on commitments, and maintains confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet goals and deadlines
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field preferred and/or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a corporate administrative role, preferably in property management, hospitality, or commercial real estate environment

Physical Requirements

  • Expected work hours: 7:30 to 5:00, Monday through Friday
  • Travel: None
  • Work environment and physical demands: General office environment including prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • FLSA Status: Nonexempt
