As the Housing Advocate, you will work with families in shelter to help them obtain safe, permanent housing. The Your role will also assess and address strengths and barriers to obtaining housing, develop a housing strategy, and rapidly re-house each family. As a Housing Advocate, you will be detail-oriented, creative problem solvers who collaborate with families and case managers to successfully acquire permanent housing. Travel within and outside of the Boston area will be required to view apartments and attend housing-related appointments.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS NEEDED

Successful candidates will be required to have:

  • Written and verbal fluency in the English language
  • Valid driver's license and registered and insured reliable vehicle
  • Full vaccination against Covid-19
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

  • Ability to speak/write in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole
  • Knowledge of subsidized housing and housing search experience
  • Experience entering data into ETO or Apricot
  • Bachelor’s Degree in human service or a related field

  • Work well with others, including a diverse team and people experiencing homelessness

  • Be flexible with scheduling
