FRONT DESK CLERK

1. INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE
1.1 The purpose of this standard procedure is to outline the authority, scope and responsibilities and the various reporting relationships for the position of the
Front Desk Clerk. This Job Description is intended to serve as a general list of requirements for this position, the authority for action that the individual occupying this position has and responsibilities and duties to be performed. It is not intended as a contract for employment, nor does it guarantee employment for a period of time.

1.2 The General Manager retains the right to change any portion of this job description at any time and the incumbent will be notified in writing.

2. BASIC FUNCTION
2.1 The basic function of the Front Desk Clerk is to maintain a smooth running front desk with a positive and friendly attitude.
2.2 To ensure that all company policies, procedures, and house rules are carried out completely and correctly while on duty.
2.3 To correctly complete the Shift Responsibility Log each shift.

3. SCOPE, AUTHORITY AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

3.1 The Front Desk Clerks immediate supervisor is the Assistant Manager. The
General Manager is available in the absence of an Assistant Manager.

3.2 Information about the hotel and its guests will be on an open basis needed to perform the job. Information obtained will remain strictly confidential in and outside the company.

4. BASIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Education: Required: completion of 10th grade

Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent
4.2 Experience: Required: None

Preferred: One plus years of front desk experience
4.3 Skills/Knowledge and abilities: Must be good communicator and be able to effectively interact with all types of guests and hotel personnel. Must be detailed oriented and able to perform multiple task efficiently. Must be able to

effectively describe rooms and converse on the telephone. Sales skills preferred.

4.4 Physical Requirements:
Body Positions: This position requires extended periods of standing.
Body Movements: Walking, carrying, lifting, pulling, and climbing stairs.
Body Senses: Must be able to smell well enough to be alerted to smoke in the building quickly.

4.5 Mental Requirements:
Mathematics: Understand and can perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and basic algebraic relationships.
Language: Must be able to effectively communicate in English both written and oral.
Technical Abilities: Must understand and be able to use a basic PC and have the aptitude for acquiring higher skill levels.

4.6 Working conditions: Work will mostly be conducted in a climate controlled office environment and may be exposed to outside weather conditions and temperatures.

5. MAJOR DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES
5.1 Will first and foremost be responsible for a smooth running and efficient front desk operation while on duty.
5.2 Will be responsible for maintaining a proper attitude towards guest service, greeting them promptly, and inviting them to return upon leaving.
5.3 Will be responsible for accurately completing the Shift Responsibility Log each shift worked.
5.4 Will be responsible for knowing emergency procedures and implementing when necessary.
5.5 Will be responsible for ensuring guest complaints, problems and requests for services are resolved in a timely manner while one duty.

The principle duties of the Front Desk Clerk shall consist of, but not be limited to the following:

5.6 Provide excellent service to guests when checking in and out, making reservations, providing hotel and community information.

5.7 Sell guest rooms available and up-sell features.
5.8 Monitor the activities, equipment, and chemicals in swimming pool and whirlpool.
5.9 Repair minor maintenance faults and report those that you cannot repair.

5.10 Know the product and that of the entire chain.
5.11 Wash, dry, fold and stock all storerooms and carts with clean linen.
5.12 Monitor the activities within the hotel, distribution of keys, and access to the

building.
5.13 Maintain a clean and well stocked breakfast environment, maintain and refill all coffee bar items and complete breakfast checklist.
5.14 Prepare and maintain evening guest reception according to policy.
5.15 Will be responsible for successful transitions from one meeting to the next meeting, including, at times, set up, tear down and temperature control.
5.16 Adhere to all company policies regarding energy efficiency throughout the building.

6. MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE
6.1 To the degree that front desk operations run smoothly and effectively while on duty.
6.2 To the degree errors are kept to minimum.
6.3 That the degree the Shift Responsibility Log is consistently and accurately completed while on duty.
6.4 To the degree that guest expectations are met and exceeded.
6.5 The degree to which a positive attitude is expressed to guests and coworkers.

7. REVIEW

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
