Horticulturalist / Nurseryperson / Landscaper Job at Puu O Hoku Ranch

Puu O Hoku Ranch Kaunakakai, HI 96748

$40,000 - $45,000 a year

Family owned Pu’u O Hoku Ranch, Biodynamic conservation land on the east end of Molokai seeking an experienced Horticulturalist/Nurseryperson/Landscaper.

Our central business is a Retreat Center, for which our biodynamic garden, native landscaping and orchards are core. Equally important are our restorations of native dryland forests to reduce silt-laden-runoff onto Molokai’s coral reef, and conservation of upland forests.

To fulfill our goals, this position must participate in envisioning the long-term, climate-adapted landscape of all grounds and gardens, design landscaping, maintain and increase nursery capacity, care and pruning of orchards, and manage a small team of staff, in concert with our Ranch Manager. While there is oversight, we do expect a hands-on approach to the work. Experience in seed-collecting, nursery propagation and orchard care, and some knowledge of native plants is essential. Applicants with experience in Biodynamic practices preferred.

We expect applicants to have a passion for the native flora of Hawaii, unrestricted physical capabilities, a problem-solving attitude, and a personable manner with coworkers and guests. We welcome self-motivated applicants with respect for local customs and traditions and the social skills to work well as part of a diverse team in a remote location.

Housing possible; benefits included. Salary commensurate with experience and capacity of applicant.

If you are interested in joining our dedicated team, please apply with a letter of interest and experience, resume and references through Indeed.
