SALARY


The minimum salary is $24.366 per hour
This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime, if applicable.
Pay Grade 519
This position is eligible for Hazardous Duty Supplemental Pay ($90/month) and CDL pay ($1.08/hour)
This position is provided with a tool allowance of up to $600/year.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION


The purpose of this classification to perform comprehensive maintenance and repairs on Lexington-
Fayette Urban County Government’s diverse fleet of heavy equipment, motor vehicles, and related
systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent supplemented by, specialized courses/training that correlates to satisfactory completion of one (1) year of college education in automotive technology, diesel technician, or a related field
  • Four (4) years of related experience
  • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
  • Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
  • Partial years of credit may be granted for every 15 credit hours of education in an unrelated field

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance as needed to maintain optimum performance
  • Perform safety inspections
  • Diagnoses and repairs all performance deficiencies
  • Fabricates parts and components as needed to make repairs
  • Purchases and maintains inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Maintains records of work performed
  • Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)- Class B must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment and maintain the CDL as a condition of continued employment
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in area(s) of expertise must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment and maintained as a condition of continued employment

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
  • Must furnish own tools
  • Must be accessible for on-call duty and ability to work weekends, holidays and emergencies as assigned

EXAMINATION

Examination will be a training and experience evaluation from information provided on the application at filing deadline date.
