Job Duties
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises and teaches best-practice healthcare simulation activities.
  • Manages and oversees the operations for new and ongoing non-credit and workforce-based healthcare programs and training events.
  • Researches and instructs simulation pre-briefing adaptation activities, building trust related to the environment prior to scenario implementation.
  • Develops self-assessments through quizzes, self-reflections, or competency rubrics that enable the learner to identify knowledge or skill gaps in advance of the simulation.
  • Creates fiction contracts to provide the learner with an opportunity to identify expected outcomes.
  • Develops and maintains an ongoing operational plan for the Bryant Center Simulation Center and provide quarterly reports on simulation utilization, evidence-based activities, including generating monthly reports on cost/expenses.
  • Ensures training program compliance, i.e., Credentia, NCCT, PTCB, DANB, SSIH.
  • Supervises simulation center/workforce-based instructional and technical staff to assure the effective operation of simulation-driven programs and the curricula and courses supported by simulation and non-credit/workforce training.
  • Coordinates and oversees in a safe and effective manner all of the logistical components of healthcare simulation courses that are conducted on and off site from the Bryant Center.
  • Creates and maintains effective and efficient communication methodologies and community calendars to assure projects, guidelines, and accreditation standards are successfully met.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment as needed and provides recommendations for budget and purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials related to simulation and non-credit healthcare training programs.
  • Plans and organizes events as required by accreditors and healthcare regulatory bodies.
  • Documents the status of students in skills, and with tasks and procedures taught in the Simulation lab, assisting in the coordination of simulation experiences based on program competencies, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Collaborates with faculty in identifying needs, developing and implementing creative learning environments.
  • Performs facility tours and orientations for communities of interest and new faculty for the use and demonstration of task trainers, simulators and facility capabilities.
  • Provides direction and oversight for the administration of daily center functions, including maintenance, troubleshooting and acquisition of equipment, learner scheduling, and problem resolution.
  • Researches new technologies or design solutions and together with the associate vice president determine the feasibility of implementation.
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to implement facilities or technology related projects designed to improve or expand functionality for the utilization and application of simulation.
  • Works with staff to develop and maintain accreditation documents by providing data, information, trends, and summarized evaluations according to third party guidelines.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary, inter-professional quality and service improvement teams and committees.
  • Establishes and maintains near and long term planning for simulation, non-credit health-related courses, and workforce based healthcare training.
  • Markets and promotes lab and simulation resources working in coordination with the office of Institutional Relations.
  • Manages and assists in overseeing the coordination and safety of simulation activities updating standards as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested by the Associate Vice President for the School of Nursing and Health Professions.

    GENERAL DUTIES:
  • Participates as a positive and productive member of the School of Nursing and Health Professions Administrative Team.
  • Manages all aspects of operation for healthcare simulation and continuing education programs and trainings.
  • Adheres to all College policies and procedures.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with team members, supervisor, faculty, staff and campus/center personnel.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of progress/issues relating to duties, responsibilities and special assignments.
  • Maintains an accurate and complete filing system.
  • Maintains and makes available to supervisor accurate, organized and current information necessary to demonstrate compliance with all state and national accreditations required of the School of Nursing and Health Professions.
  • Annually upgrades skills level and job performance through appropriate employee professional development sessions.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team, when required.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees as requested.
  • Demonstrates adherence to work schedules and office hours.
  • Manages multiple projects and deadlines in an effective and efficient manner.

Job Description
The Healthcare Simulation and Workforce Director for the School of Nursing and Health Professions is a full-time faculty position with administrative oversight. The director will take an active role in all simulation activities, including course mapping, simulation curriculum development, development of simulation faculty, and teaching in the simulation lab. This person will ensure that all activities comply with College, School, and Accreditation policies, procedures, and processes.

The position also supports faculty, students, and community partners with initiatives involving non-credit healthcare programs, and healthcare continuing education training. The position directs and supervises a team of support staff which help with the coordination and organization of the sim center, continuing education, and workforce based activities and events that impact healthcare. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for the School of Nursing and Health Professions.

Mandatory Qualifications
(M1)Bachelor’s Degree in a health, education, or a leadership/management field of study.
(M2) Teaching or healthcare training experience.
(M3) Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
(M4) Familiarity with Internet, email, and Microsoft Office.
(M5) Ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision.

Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Master’s degree in a health, education, or a leadership/management related field of study.
(D2) Healthcare,, workforce, and/or continuing education experience.
(D3) Working knowledge of Standardized Patient instructional methodologies, curriculum development, or assessments.
(D4) Demonstrated track record of developing and sustaining programs that support and accomplish the strategic initiatives of an organization.
(D5) Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
