This Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Epidemiology Supervisor will conduct and plan priority capacity in the HAI surveillance, COVID-19 response, and other infections of public health significance.

This position contributes to our mission by supervising four staff focused on epidemiology, surveillance, informatics, case investigation, contact tracing, and outbreak response. You’ll be responsible for oversight of data collection and reporting of HAIs and evaluation and enhancement of the data quality of HAIs reportable through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN).

Some of what you’ll be doing:
  • Liaises with local health jurisdictions regarding HAI and healthcare-associated COVID-19 data quality and completeness.
  • Partners with the HAI Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) team by providing data and outbreak reports for their response.
  • Contributing author for the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity grant applications for HAI.
  • Contributes to data quality and metric collection required for grant measures.
  • Meets regularly with staff through team meetings, scheduled 1:1s, and conducts performance and development reviews.
  • Monitors tasks assigned to the NHSN, such as NHSN Long-Term Care COVID data report distribution, development, and maintenance of NHSN dashboards.
  • As necessary, this position will support public health emergency preparedness and response activities.
This remote project position is currently funded through July 31, 2024.

Required Qualifications
Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities.
Option 1: A Master's degree in epidemiology, or a Master's degree in public health including 12 graduate quarter hours (500 level or above) in epidemiology and 12 graduate quarter hours in biostatistics; and four (4) years of experience in epidemiology research and analysis.
Option 2: A Doctoral degree in epidemiology or a Doctoral degree in biostatistics with 12 graduate quarter hours (500 level or above) of epidemiology; and two (2) years of experience in epidemiology research and analysis.
Option 3: A Doctoral degree in a health science field, with a Master's degree in epidemiology or public health, including 12 graduate quarter hours (500 level or above) in epidemiology and 12 quarter hours in biostatistics; and two (2) years of experience in epidemiology research and analysis.
Option 4: A Medical degree with a Master's degree in epidemiology or public health including 12 graduate quarter hours (500 level or above) in epidemiology and 12 graduate quarter hours in biostatistics; and two (2) years of experience in epidemiology research analysis. Completion of related training or experience such as with the Centers for Disease Control or the National Institute of Health will substitute for MPH degree.
