Your Specific Responsibilities:

Ins This is a highly responsible professional position that serves as the Region 4 Minority HIV/AIDS Coordinator, established in Section 381.0046, Florida Statutes. This position is responsible for facilitating efforts focused on HIV prevention and care initiatives and programs which reduce racial/ethnic disparities in the five-county area of Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns Counties known as Area This is a highly independent and responsible position with direct responsibility to the Regional HIV Program Coordinator.

This position will have the working title of the Region 4 Minority AIDS Community Engagement and Training Coordinator who will focus on mobilizing the communities most impacted HIV. This position also provides training and health education resources that address issues and concerns that impact our minority and underserved populations. This position is the primary point of contact to request speakers, capacity-building assistance, and printed health education materials in support of community events. This position develops, coordinates, monitors, and reports on required work plans. This position also supports the local planning groups for prevention and care. This position will work closely with the Early Intervention Coordinator (EIC).

This position has responsibilities of reviewing and updating workplans, TGA Integrated HIV prevention and care plan, Ending the HIV Epidemic plan to coordinate, monitor, and implement strategies and activities impact HIV incidence and prevalence among people of color and other communities that are at high risk. Coordinates grassroots efforts for building and expanding critical relationships with community partners and organizations. Works with minority coalitions, groups, and organizations most impacted by HIV in identifying community problems, prioritizing issues, and identifying resources

Develops and implement community mobilization initiatives focused on communities of color and other communities most impacted by HIV to ensure awareness and accessibility of available HIV prevention and care resources and services. Develops and advises on specific strategies that promote testing among people of color to know their status as well as strategies to link, retain and reengage people of color in HIV care with the goal of increasing people of care in care and sustaining viral load suppression.

This position is the primary point of contact to request speakers, capacity-building assistance, and printed health education materials in support of community events. This position also supports and participates on local planning groups for prevention and care. Presents HIV/AIDS, STD, and viral hepatitis Information at conferences and other meetings regarding the impact those diseases have on racial/ethnic minorities and other communities that are most impacted or identified.

The incumbent coordinates activities with the Statewide Minority AIDS Coordinator and the Prevention Training Consultant, and assists with community level engagement, and works in collaboration with the planning groups for HIV/AIDS prevention and patient care. Coordinate calendars and assist in managing functions of the project. Assist with the planning, coordination, facilitation, and documentation of meetings. Complete IT requests, work orders, purchase orders, and travel requests using established policies and procedures. Attend in-service, seminars, workshops, and other related meetings either in person or virtually. Travel to perform duties and for professional development, if needed. Completes all mandatory training within required deadlines. Ensure accurate and timely submission of Employee Activity Records, timesheets, and travel vouchers. Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of minority communities and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of cultural sensitivity, cultural humility and cultural responsiveness.
  • Knowledge of social degeminates of health.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with STD/HIV/Hepatitis programs.
  • Knowledge and skills using digital platforms for community engagement and meetings
  • Knowledge and skills conducting community mobilization
  • Ability to apply culturally appropriate strategies
  • Ability to be flexible in order to successfully adapt to program changes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others

Qualifications:

  • Do you have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Public Health, Human Services or related field or equivalent work experience
  • HIV or STI Program Experience including certification in 500/501
  • Two years of professional experience in community engagement and program development/implementation?
  • Must have a valid Drivers license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-5 years’ experience in HIV and/or STI Programs
  • 501/501 Train the Trainer Certification
