The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Coordinator, Health Promotions. Working as a member of the Health Promotion & Education department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

In this role you will be responsible for coordinating activities for the New York State Healthy Homes VBP Pilot grant to expand the quality and availability of guidelines-based asthma control services to improve asthma-related health outcomes and provision of healthy homes and asthma control services. This is a grant-funded position serving the State of New York, primarily the New York City boroughs, Western and Central NY.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation of Pilot-based initiatives for the New York State Healthy Homes VBP Pilot contract.
  • Support the collaboration with NYS Department of Health, NYS Energy Research and Development Authority, NYS Managed Care Organizations, and Health Services Delivery Partners to expand provision of healthy homes and asthma control services.
  • Assist with the scheduling and delivery of training and technical assistance to Pilot Partners.
  • Assist with evaluation activities including overseeing Engagement Tracker data entry and provision of monthly reporting to partners.
  • Coordinate and track purchasing and preparation of materials for training programs and home-based asthma supportive products.
  • Create and manage statewide communications, including social media, website, email lists and newsletters.
  • Represent the Association as a member of community, civic, and/or health coalitions and organizations related to the Association’s mission.
  • Build, maintain, and cultivate relationships with funders, facilitators, and community partners to encourage program delivery, sustainability, and growth across service territory, including ALA signature programs where applicable.
  • Select and participate in local, state, and national seminars and courses designed to increase skills and knowledge related to job requirements.
  • Participate in and support all area events and provide support for annual report, awards, grants and other activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in public health or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
  • Prior experience developing and implementing community awareness, education, and programs specifically related to areas of public health.
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license and your own reliable transportation with the ability to travel within assigned area 25% of the time for meetings and conferences, as well as the flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required.
  • Able to work with minimum direct supervision, make decisions, and take initiative.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Internet applications.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

    • Note: Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The target hiring range for this position is between $20,000 and $23,000 per annum.
