Salary Information
Starting at $54,000 to $65,000 based on experience

Department Summary
This is a specified term position dependent on grant funding, with an expected end date of April 30, 2026. This is a remote position. However, employees will be expected to reside within or be willing to relocate to one of the seven states (AR, KS, LA, MO, NE, OK, TX) served by NNLM Region 3. Some travel is expected.

Position Overview
The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, Gibson D. Lewis Library serves as host of the Regional Medical Library (RML) for the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 3. As the RML, we coordinate outreach services and provide programming on behalf of the National Library of Medicine throughout Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. This office is funded through a cooperative agreement from the National Library of Medicine, an institute of the National Institutes of Health.
The Health Literacy and Membership Specialist (Librarian) develops, coordinates, and implements outreach and educational programs and keeps abreast of trends in health literacy, consumer health information, and related subjects. This position provides programming to support NNLM and NLM resources, services, initiatives, and programs to the region for a wide range of audiences within the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. The Specialist uses a variety of strategies to identify organizations and develop outreach programs for community-based agencies, libraries, and associations that serve the general public and underserved populations, with the goal of developing health literacy and consumer health educational resources to reach these audiences. Job duties include course development, virtual instruction, classroom instruction, scheduling classes, and conference presentations. This position serves as the subject liaison in the areas of program planning, health literacy, health disparities, and membership. Participates in the rotation of soliciting speakers and provides support for online training sessions as needed. Additional educational programming will be developed in other topical areas to meet the needs of regional stakeholders. May conduct site visits and travel to existing and potential network member institutions within the region to provide training in accessing authoritative health information. The Specialist reviews program proposals and provides assistance to applicants seeking funding, and provides liaison services to sub-award recipients as assigned. The staff member will provide support and representation in national NNLM committees, initiatives, and priorities. Duties include promoting RML activities, submitting activity reports, and serving as a geographic expert for one state profile in the region. This position also serves as NNLM Region 3’s Membership Lead, which includes management of R3 network membership progress, programs, and plans. This position conducts client relationship management processing, monitoring, and tracking of network membership and involves participation in the national NNLM Membership working group. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in library or information science and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
