About the opportunity:

Currently, we are looking for survey analysts to join us in contributing to domestic health policy projects. Our current work includes a wide range of topics in health care service delivery and financing; quality measures; public health; health equity; health systems change; and health insurance, vocational rehabilitation and employment policy for people with disabilities. Survey analysts may work on a variety of projects spanning policy and programmatic areas as well as program evaluation and implementation support.

Example projects include:

  • Evaluating the implementation and impact of Medicare and Medicaid innovation initiatives aimed at expanding access to care, improving health care quality, promoting health outcomes, or reducing costs
  • Studying the effects of multi payer delivery system innovations on health care access, quality, health outcomes, and costs
  • Collaborating with our public and private partners to design and implement programs and policies to support people with disabilities
  • Conducting analysis and studies on COVID-19 impacts on patient populations and provider services
Health Survey Analystsdraw on methodological training, content knowledge, leadership abilities, and strong communication skills to perform various survey and data collection design, planning, management, and analysis tasks. They incorporate innovative methods and technologies to collect data, and manage survey and data collection operations, efficiently. Survey analysts may work across content areas or focus on one or more specific content areas.

Roles and responsibilities typically include:
  • Engaging with diverse clients and stakeholders to build trust and rapport, gather input, and provide high-quality work, thoughtful recommendations, and responsive communication
  • Designing and testing data collection instruments, and conducting pretests and cognitive interviews
  • Developing specifications, user manuals, and other documentations for data collection systems and reporting tools
  • Developing training materials and training interviewers
  • Managing survey data collection and quality control efforts
  • Assisting project leadership with managerial tasks including task planning and oversight, progress reporting, and cost tracking and budget estimates
  • Conducting literature reviews and scans on a range of topics
  • Supporting qualitative data collection, including conducting interviews and focus groups
  • Preparing written descriptions of data collection methodologies and procedures, and drafting sections of reports and other client deliverables
  • Assisting with business development activities, supporting all aspects of proposal efforts including drafting subsections of proposals, compiling data, and drafting charts or exhibits
  • May assist with the development of survey sampling approaches, documentation, and weighting; evaluating the quality of data after fieldwork; creating and executing research and analysis plans; and analyzing/synthesizing findings in the final data
  • Exhibiting initiative to take on new opportunities, further own professional development, and become an organizational leader

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience in a social science or related field
  • Familiarity and experience with data collection tools and methods
  • Strong analytic skills, including knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Ability to think critically
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write clear and concise technical memos and documents
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and careful attention to detail
  • Ability to complete tasks on tight deadlines without compromising quality
  • Familiarity and experience with standard MS packages, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Familiarity with survey sampling theory or weighting/variance estimation methodologies is a plus
  • Familiarity with R, Python, STATA, SUDAAN and/or other statistical programs used to analyze data coming from complex survey designs is a plus
  • Spanish, or other language fluency is a plus
  • Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with others
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on teams
  • Willingness to travel domestically, as needed
  • Willingness to be flexible with work hours and assignments

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $70,000-$90,000. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
