Are you looking for an opportunity to join a world-renowned scientific team? Come join our team at Jefferson Lab, where great minds matter.

The Hall B physics program covers a broad range of topics, with a focus on the three-dimensional imaging of the quark structure within the nucleon, a flagship of the Jefferson Lab 12 GeV scientific program. Other topics include meson and baryon spectroscopy and structure investigations, quark-gluon interactions in nuclei, and the search for physics beyond the Standard Model such as Heavy Photons. The experiments collect a large volume of data which requires advanced offline software, especially for particle reconstruction and high-level physics analyses, and a service-oriented framework.

As a staff scientist in Hall B, you will be part of a large team of experienced scientists focusing on fundamental investigations into the nature of matter. Experiments are carried out with the CLAS12 detector and other specialized equipment within international collaborations.

The successful candidate is expected to work with a team of scientists on the offline software of CLAS12, including but not limited to the implementation of common analysis tools.

In this role you will…

Work on the development and maintenance of common tools for a high-level data analysis
Collaborate with staff and users of the Hall B software team and CLAS12 software group, to develop and maintain offline analysis software
Contribute to the activities of the Hall B software team
Play a top role in a research project within the Hall B physics program
Perform calibration and high-level physics analyses in present data sets
Support detector maintenance and operations
Work on collecting data with the experiments running in Hall B
