Job Description:

The position requires technical support that includes work done at base run facility under government personnel guidance. Most work is performed in a large shop area that can be drafty and noisy. Technical Engineering Technician crouches, kneels while working in confined spaces and in awkward positions. May lift as much as 50 to 60 pounds. Frequently lifts or carries 25 pounds. Weight handling equipment or assistance of other workers is available for heavy lifts. Through use of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), perform full range of work (in the shop) to include fault isolation, complete tear down and overhaul repairs and refurbishment in shop of Naval Gun Weapon System Components in accordance with Technical Repair Standards. Equipment destined for on-board Navy ships.

Job Requirements:

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of fault isolation, complete tear down and overhaul repairs and refurbishment, in shop, of Naval Gun Weapon System Components in accordance with Technical Repair Standards. As required, perform the following:

1) Quality inspect and oversee the corrosion proofing and finish painting and maintain reporting documentation of painting process.

2) Responsibilities for Sub Contractors (Vendors) for Welding repairs, Machining repairs and fabrication of replacement parts in accordance with Technical Repair Standards

3) Submit Purchase request for all work to be performed by subcontractors

4) Perform quality inspection on all work perform by subcontractors and

5) Design and develop special fixtures and tooling for the repairs as required. Requires skill and knowledge of Gun Weapon System components to adapt to fluid repair deadlines to fit changed fleet requirements. Demonstrate ability to adapt to modified specifications, methods, and equipment to achieve objectives. Applies broad practical experience and knowledge in the trade to determine methods of operation, reasons for deficiencies, and corrective measures needed to repair or improve the operation of Gun Weapons System Components. Requires practical knowledge and troubleshooting skills on the MK-85 MOD 1 Electro Optic Director (EOD) and MK-87 Mod 0 Electro Optic Director, Electronic Laser Range Finder (ELRF), MK 15/ MK 19 Daylight Imaging Sensor (DIS) and MK-16 and MK-18 Thermal Imaging Sensor (TIS). Requires skill in using special measuring devices such as multi-meters, micrometers, various gauges, and calipers to troubleshoot, verify proper alignments, and spacing on MK-85 MOD 1 Electro Optic Director (EOD) and MK-87 Mod 0 Electro Optic Director and related components and interfaces IAW Mil Std 248C and NAVSEA Standard for instruction.

Preferences:

1) Minimum three years Naval Gun Weapon Systems and related interfaces

2) General knowledge of DoD organization

3) General understanding of Engineering processes

4) Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a variety of personnel at external activities

5) Administration Experience with Basic Computing Skills such as Microsoft Office Suite,

6) Organization and prioritization skills,

7) Valid U.S. government secret clearance.

Security Clearance:

Applicants must have an active security clearance and/or the ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a DoD government-granted security clearance.
