Role Summary:

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of operations, hot or cold, contained in the Grind and Inspect area at the Forge Plant of CMCO. This position operates a wide selection of work centers comprised of a variety of machines used in different combinations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Setup and operate all machines and equipment used in Grinding and Inspecting
  • Verify quality of product by the use of manufacturing prints and gauges.
  • Make adjustments as necessary on grinders to produce acceptable product.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for this work center.
  • Perform and document all quality checks required in these work centers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Competencies:

  • Must be able to interpret documents such as manufacturing prints and work order packets.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Success Measures:

Ability to interpret drawings and work order packets to set-up equipment and run acceptable products.

Qualifications:

Previous forging experience not required. Most maintain a safe work environment, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

Special Position Requirements:

The employee is subject to an environment that is fast paced and physically demanding. Significantly dangerous conditions generated by heat and hammer impact is present in this work center. The employee is exposed to the hazard of mobile equipment moving in close areas. High noise levels are present in most areas the employee works.

Work Requirements:

Must be able to use calipers, gages and other measuring instruments. Must have minimal computer skills including data entry and some typing ability.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to stand for long periods and walk between pieces of machinery. He/she is required to lift objects ranging from 1 to 40 lbs. on a regular basis and operates in an environment influenced by the heat generated by the forging process. Substantial movements of the arms, wrists, hands, and legs are essential in the operation of this equipment. Some stooping and bending are required.

Will be required to set-up and operate; Punch and Stamping Presses, Induction Heaters, Grinders, Drill Presses, and Threaders. Must be able to operate a fork truck.
