Global Remote Monitoring Specialist, Rotary Drills

Business Area Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a global leading supplier in equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and construction industries. Applications include rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunnelling and quarrying. Parts & Services Division is now looking for a Global Remote Monitoring Specialist to support the growing demand for remote monitoring and analytics. The preferable location is Alachua Florida.

Your role

You will analyse and interpret machine data from frontline operations and provide technical insights into machine performance which supports the frontline organisation to create robust RCA reports and recommendations for improving the performance of equipment based on the data insights. Your role contributes directly to improving the fleet’s performance, safety and sustainability. Your results will contribute to our sustainability shift where we strive for a reduction in the energy usage and material wastage. The role is within the Data Science team which improves and creates new predictive models and who works closely with engineering teams to provide valuable input to machine design in new product development.

Your main responsibilities will include

  • Perform remote monitoring of customer’s fleet in terms of telemetry data to ensure the optimal performance of the fleet.
  • Provide valuable input to technical leadership at all levels of the mines with special emphasis on interacting with Operations and Maintenance crews.
  • Statistically analyse equipment/asset performance to assess functional system reliability, asset availability, equipment maintainability, process safety & environment.
  • Translate reliability opportunities into bottom-line cost savings & top-line growth, i.e. implement reliability improvement programs/processes and high-impact projects to deliver bottom-line cost reductions.
  • Promote technical, systemic, human/behavioural reliability improvement factors across sites.
  • Support the continued development and administration of analytical platforms and applications designed to improve reliability centre data reporting, analysis, and decision layer visualization and reports.
  • This role will focus on products of our Rotary Drills division.

Your background

You have a suitable technical education background, e.g. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering. You have the curiosity to explore new ideas and develop them into robust solutions in collaboration with customers and the global team. You have advanced knowledge of machine operations and performance in a mining or industrial environment and you are proficient in mobile equipment maintenance applications.

You have advanced MS Office skills and a working knowledge of reading and interpreting mechanical, hydraulic and electrical schematics. You are proficient at interpreting results from complex technical analyses and present results in a form that is understood and actionable by operations, product or marketing stakeholders. You are proficient in heavy duty equipment maintenance and applications, have strong electrical skills and a basic understanding of data visualisation tools. You have some experience machine telemetry solutions and you have proficient knowledge of mobile equipment operations and processes. You are highly analytical and you have solid working experience with machine telemetry solutions. Your background as a Service Technician or Engineer is highly desirable. Previous experience from rotary drilling equipment is highly desirable and seen as a distinct advantage.

You are comfortable with presenting complex information to a variety of audiences and collaborating across organizations, cultures and geographies. As the organization is a global player, you naturally need well-developed English skills. Some degree of travel might be required.
