Role Overview

The Director of Global Benefits provides strategic expertise on the design and implementation of benefits programs for APAC, EMEA and LAO [all regions outside of North America (US/Canada)].

The Director of Global Benefits will oversee the global benefit philosophy, drive practices and effective execution across all regions (primary focus outside of NA) collaborating with Regional Total Rewards team, local business leaders and HR through the management of internal and vendor partner relationships. Benefits programs include health, paid time off, life & disability, retirement, and wellbeing.

The Director of Global Benefits reports to the Vice President (VP), Global Total Rewards. This role represents the benefits function on the global Total Rewards leadership team and is a leader / mentor to benefits professionals throughout the regions. May be located in any country within one of the regions – NA, APAC, EMEA or LAO, however, a significant amount of working day will include US hours.

What You’ll Do (Role Purpose)

  • Responsible for the strategic direction, design, and financial oversight of the benefit programs on a global basis
  • Define global benefits management model including clarifying roles and responsibilities, type of brokerage arrangement (e.g., global or regional), what will be owned within Kimberly-Clark and what will be provided by external vendor partners, etc.
  • Define and lead the global benefits governance framework
  • Define the global “minimum standard of benefits” and set global benefits policies
  • Drive communications strategy around benefits for APAC, EMEA and LAO and global wellbeing
  • Be involved with benefits plan design, pricing strategies, leveraging global vendor relationships/ renewals and compliance as needed in the regions
  • Build out and lead global wellbeing initiatives and programs, aligning with the Kimberly-Clark wellbeing strategy
  • Provide a consolidated perspective about the benefits situation across geographies and drive the harmonization and standardization of benefits programs and processes (as appropriate)
  • Be accountable for benefits budget – manage renewals and approvals for global benefit vendors
  • Keep up to date with external market trends and developments in benefits related areas to ensure offerings remain market competitive, financially sound, and legally compliant
  • Assist with benchmarking of programs and processes against external, industry-leading best practices

  • Work with regional Total Rewards leads, country HR teams and leaders to ensure programs are market-based, comply with local laws and regulations, and align with company philosophy/objectives
  • Partner with other functions in areas such as Legal, Finance, Risk Management, to manage risk to the company/employees, and understand legal, financial and competitive implications to policy or design changes
  • Work with consultants and third-party vendors to oversee renewals, services, and costs
  • Serve as a consultative and technical resource for HR and senior management on benefits elements across regions

Experience We’re Looking For

  • BA Degree with a Masters or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in global benefits, including 5+ years of management experience
  • Experience within a large, global multi-national organization preferred, including working in a matrix environment
  • Ability to think strategically regarding global benefit plans
  • Subject matter expert on benefits and wellness related strategy and execution
  • Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of benefits policies, trends, laws, regulations, and system tools & technologies in at least one region (outside of NA)
  • Extensive experience with global benefits brokerage/administration and solid understanding of benefit programs in multiple regions across the globe
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment prioritizing workload and performing multiple tasks under accelerated deadlines
  • Credibility to lead and influence others and work collaboratively in a matrix organization globally
  • Interpersonal, integrity and relationship skills, with a proven ability to form relationships with diverse teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 30% once it is safe to do so
