GENERAL MANAGER

The General Manager role at the Warwick Country Club is a wonderful opportunity to lead and manage a prestigious waterfront country club and be the face of the organization as we head into the Club’s Centennial year. We have an immediate opening for the General Manager’s position.

Club Overview:

The Warwick Country Club, established in 1924, and located on picturesque Narragansett Bay, offers unparalleled views of the west passage, East Greenwich Bay, and the Jamestown and Newport bridges. It offers waterfront luxury; exquisite dining in our beautiful, renovated

Clubhouse dining rooms, or on our Oceanview outside decks, a prestigious Donald Ross designed 18-hole golf course and practice facilities, tennis and pickleball courts, a pool clubhouse and cabana and beach area, large function facilities, and junior summer sports programs. WCC is a hidden gem in Rhode Island and considered as one of the best golf courses within the state of Rhode Island. We have a seasoned staff of true managerial professionals that offer a seamless member and guest experience. The ideal candidate will be focused on both member and employee experiences, display exceptional leadership skills, and act as a steward for supporting and maintaining traditions, while protecting the long-standing culture of understated excellence.

The Club is operational nearly year-round, with dining services available Tuesday-Sunday, and with more limited service in our shoulder seasons. The golf course is open year-round, weather permitting. We have a very active golf program and offer many long-standing member/guest tournaments. We host over fifteen Monday golf outings annually for charities and corporate groups. Our members can enjoy family and adult dining areas in the Clubhouse, on our outdoor ocean view decks, or at our pool pavilion. Our function space can accommodate over 200 guests, and with our sprawling lawn overlooking Narragansett Bay, we host many grand events.

With over 500+ members, the club grosses $6.2 million annually, of which $2.5 million is generated through food and beverage sales. There are approximately 120+ employees during the summer season.

Job Description:

The Club is looking for a dynamic leader who will lead the Club, inspire our wonderful staff, and ensure that the goals and objectives set forth by our Board are met. The manager will be the face of the club, highly visible, and provide outstanding leadership, exceed member expectations, and foster a collaborative and inclusive environment for members and staff alike. The GM will devote full time and attention to ensure maximum member and employee satisfaction. The continuance and improvement of the quality of the Club’s services, as well as the maintenance, security, and protection of the Club’s assets and facilities, will also be fundamental duties. The GM will directly supervise the following positions: Food & Beverage Manager, Executive Chef,

Function Sales Manager, Controller, Administrative Assistant, FOH managers, Banquet

Operations Manager, Golf, Tennis, and Aquatic Professionals, and Greens Superintendent. The GM will be responsible for mentioned and professional growth of the management team and will directly report to the Club President and Board of Governors. The GM candidate should be well versed in club financials and have strict adherence to established current operating and capital budgets, monitor monthly financials, and take corrective action as required. Also, the GM must have the skills with verifiable strengths in team development, financial performance, diverse recreational and service amenity management, family activities, quality food & beverage programming and most importantly, the ability to consistently define and achieve goals and objections.

Job Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will preferably have a minimum of five plus years of General Manager experience in a full service, family orientated private country club offering varied sports and social amenities. They also should have a proven track record of verifiable success and longevity at prior clubs. A college graduate B.S in Hospitality Management or equivalent is preferred, as well as the Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation.

Salary & Benefits:

Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The club offers an excellent benefits package, including medical/dental insurance, golf & tennis privileges, and paid vacation/holidays, 401K, and a CMAA package.
