Good news!! ArtisTree Cafe is looking for temporary general laborers for the early summer, with potential to be hired for additional projects in the future. We need help building and preparing to open an exciting new immersive Art Cafe right here in the heart of Alexandria.

SCOPE:

General Labor covers a wide range of duties including "gofer", cleaning, construction, painting, even some artistic projects.

The successful candidates will be added to a roster to be called as needed over the next 2-3 months as we prepare to open. Labor List employees have access to a calendar of planned needs, and can sign up for days as desired. If not enough people sign up for a day, we make calls. Employees are not required to say yes to calls, but, they are expected to show up or find a replacement if they do say yes. We will be open and honest about the number of hours we expect to be able to offer each employee in the interview.

Tools are not required, but safe and appropriate clothing for a construction zone is. PPE is always provided where needed.

ARE YOU A GOOD FIT?

Successful Candidates for this position must have:

• General knowledge and comfort with using power tools and construction materials
• A reliable phone
• Respect for coworkers
• A commitment to safety
• A friendly personality
• A willingness to learn
• A plan for their own transportation to the Cafe
• The ability to lift and carry 75 lbs or more, easily balance on uneven terrain, manipulate objects with hands, and generally perform a broad variety of highly physical functions for 8 hours in a day (with a reasonable number of breaks
• The ability to arrive sober and ready to work on a few hours notice

The Perfect Candidate would have:

• Prior Experience in the construction or handyman industry
• Specific paid or volunteer experience in demolition, framing, drywall, or tile installation
• Familiarity with the local construction scene
• First Aid training

HOW MUCH TIME IS REQUIRED?

We are looking for both Full Time and Part Time people. Hours will vary significantly from week to week, and can include weekdays, weekends, or both. We will strive to build a team where everyone is happy with their hours. This position is highly flexible, working around both your schedule and the business needs.
