Summary of Position:

The Service and Repair Technician II will be more of a self-motivated and take the lead to initiate and develop technicians in the group. A Requirement of 5 Years minimum experience having a primary focus / discipline in medical equipment repair with various electronic equipment repair skill sets. Will primarily be responsible for troubleshooting, disassembly, testing, and assembly of electro-mechanical medical devices.

Must have proficient writing skills in reporting and determination of a root cause to sub assembly level. All service work performed must be clearly documented in the approved Service Management System. The Service and Repair Technician II will be a leader responsible for training incoming Technician I hires in addition to normal job duties. They will promote “Best practices” to adhere to documented procedures, work instructions, engineering drawings, or sketches as defined in the BD Quality System and processes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs wiring / assembly of subassemblies of serviced end item products.
  • Generates and executes upon formal test protocols and reports.
  • Sets up and operates test equipment and records measurements.
  • Provides process/test method training to new hire technicians.
  • Investigates, confirms original complaint to sub-assembly root cause analysis and properly documents the repairs of returned devices for service, per corporate standards and local procedures.
  • Provides options for repairs to customer service center via accurate repair estimating.
  • Interfaces with Field Assurance to accurately document an evaluation to root problem cause determination as reported in the Service Management and Complaint handling systems.
  • Participates in the development of local procedures and documentation for equipment repair.
  • Supports production/ Service Quality Engineer with diagnosing potential new failure modes with manufactured equipment returned for Out of Box failure analysis.
  • Identify any negative trends for the devices serviced.
  • Will assist in the support of Quality and Regulatory, to ensure systems are in compliance with all internal and external guidelines.
  • Maintains working knowledge of company policies and procedures, ISO and FDA requirements.
  • Back-up technical support when needed for customer issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • An Associate degree in electronic engineering technology with 5 years related experience in a comparable discipline.
  • Medical Device or Biomedical Engineering experience a plus.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to interpret and comprehend specifications, procedures, and use of hand tools.
  • Must be able to prepare and maintain appropriate documentation related to the product servicing.
  • Writing skills sufficient to write technical reports, the process taken toward resolution, and results.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate data and recommend actions
  • Knowledgeable in troubleshooting electronics and hydraulic circuits mandatory
  • Able to coordinate test protocols
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Able to communicate technical solutions to customers
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
  • Keyboarding and Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Creates solutions, powders, and liquids for batches to meet specifications.
  • Provides training support for on-boarding and/or new procedures.
  • Provides support to the lead/supervisor when necessary.
  • Provides continuous improvement recommendations and/or solutions to support overall operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements.

Basic Skills:

Proficient/Working Skills:

  • Must be proficient in English with the ability to read, write, analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams and perform basic arithmetic

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $14.00 - $15.50 per hour
