The Fuel Tax Manager is responsible for monthly motor fuels and sales tax compliance, process improvements and financial management to help drive performance improvements for the various commercial and retail divisions of the company.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage State Motor Fuels Excise Tx filing and remittances at varying frequencies
- Manage State Sales Tax and use tax filings and remittance at varying frequencies
- Reconcile (monthly) all related general ledger balance sheet tax accrual accounts
- Liaison with state and local authorities to resolve any/all tax related matters
- Remain conversant of changing sales/use tax regulations, tax rates and related accounting rules through timely research, communicate changes to internal groups and ensure proper implementation of changes
- Maintain compliance with state licensing and bonding regulations
- Manage annual 1099 filing and data maintenance
- Respond timely to US Census Bureau and EIA (Energy Information Agency) surveys
- Assist in preparation for annual financial statement audit
- Bachelor’s in accounting
- 2 years experience with Sales/Use Taxes, Motor Fuel Excise Tax
- Experience in representing company in tax related audits
- Skilled working with ERP Systems and Microsoft Office Products
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective project/process management skills
- General ledger accounting proficiency preferred
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
